Late 1950s or early 1960s floral silk print sleeveless dress. With a shallow V neck that has an interesting cowl detail design which crosses over the bodice and is attached on the right side of the seam on the torso. The skirt is darted at the front and it fastens to the side with the original metal zip. Fashioned from a fine Chinese silk, the colour combination and the floral print have a painterly mid-century design with the most striking colour being the dark indigo which has been accented with pink highlights together with the chrysanthemums in grey and white against a green foliage and turquoise background. It's a well made piece with lots of hand-stitched elements. The dressmaker was certainly very competent and trained in couture construction techniques. We are not sure the dress ever had a label but if it did, it is no longer present. In beautiful vintage condition with no issues of any note. Best fit for up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8.
